Ingredients
- 6 medium tomatoes (chopped)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 3 celery stalks (diced)
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp. basil
- Salt and pepper
- 4 medium green peppers
- 1 lb. ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 cup rice (uncooked)
Directions
- Boil the green peppers for 5 minutes, drain and set aside
- Combine tomatoes, onion, celery, tomato sauce, water, salt, and pepper in a pot and bring to a boil to make the sauce
- Combine ground beef, rice, basil, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl and spoon into the green peppers
- Place peppers in the saucepot and spoon some sauce over the tops
- Cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 40-45 minutes until the beef is cooked through
